Ok, I'll say to start with I wasnt listening properly to the bloke talking
to me first of all but anyway...
I too am looking at the 16x10x40 plextor drive (still aint got the slower
one going (Teac) but I now have anew m/b and flyer) and while I was talking
to him (PC shop bloke) he told me that he had done some chasing up on the
Plextor 12 and 16 speed write CDRW drives (cos I have been bugging him for
2weeks now ;-) ).
He told me he had been in contact with a few amiga users in america or
summat that actually test new CD-RW drives on amiga setups to see if they
actually work or not (probably talking out of his rear end I guessed so I
stopped listening then), anyway.. (some time later)
He eventually got around to saying that there are 2 revisions of the IDE
Plextor 16x10x40 CDRW - one is revision 'a' (which you say you have) and
then there is a updated version of the drive which is revision 'as' (still
IDE). Now from what he told me, he said that one of these drives would not
work at all on the amiga, where as the other revision worked faultlessly as
soon as they plugged it into the system.
(believe what you want from that but I believe the bloke)
I wish I could remember which version it was that worked though :-/
